12 Weeks!
Only 12 weeks to go the LOBSTER BASH!!!! Be sure to book your weekend off, it's going to be a blast! If you want to be a sponsor of the Lobster Bash, climb aboard now!! If you want to be a vendor at the Lobster Bash, send in your application, or make contact with us . . . time is getting short.
Help us promote the lobster industry in South West Nova!!! We should all be eating lobster at least once a week . . . Just think about it, if the lobster industry stopped today, South West Nova would be in very serious trouble. Support the industry, from the fishermen, to the buyers, to the retailers . . . and everyone that has a hand in between . . . they are all part of our community, and many are family.

Province to declare day for lost fishermen
In its Speech from the Throne, the Dexter
government announced its intention to declare a day dedicated to
remembering all Nova Scotia fishermen and women lost at sea.
The speech, made on Tuesday afternoon by Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant opened the spring sitting of the Legislature.
In making the announcement, the Lt. Governor noted the recent loss of the five local fishermen on the Miss Ally.
“Communities like Woods Harbour know that the ocean provides bountiful abundance but can exact a terrible toll. Just 40 days have passed since five young fishers -- Katlin Nickerson, Billy Jack Hatfield, Joel Hopkins, Steven Cole Nickerson and Tyson Townsend -- were lost when the Miss Ally capsized in the stormy sea. Those young men sought only to make a living and support their families,” he said.
In the wake of the tragedy, former Shelburne County resident Phoebe Malone was one of those who had been pushing for the province to set aside a day to honor the men and women who work on the sea.
She circulated a petition and set up a Facebook page called Fishermen’s Day in Nova Scotia. The page received thousands of likes on Facebook.

Bubba...caught March of 2005
Bubba was 22-pounds (10-kilogram)! Bubba (estimated to be at least 50 years old) was sent to a
peaceful retirement in an aquarium at the Ripley's Believe It or Not!
Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
At 53 centimeters (21 inches) from nose to tail tip, Bubba makes the
average-size (1.5-pound/0.7-kilogram) adult lobster in the photo look
positively shrimpy. But he's not exactly the king of the sea.
Caught off eastern Canada in 1977, the biggest lobster ever recorded
weighed in at 44 pounds (20 kilograms) and stretched to 41 inches (106
centimeters). THAT IS TWICE THE SIZE OF BUBBA!
